Frecciarossa (Trenitalia) – France & Italy
Trenitalia's Frecciarossa high-speed trains between Paris, Lyon, Marseille, Turin and Milan.
Engineering works: Paris–Milan Frecciarossa trains are suspended from 12 September to 9 October 2026 while the Chambéry–Modane line is closed, with services expected to restart from 10 October 2026. Paris–Lyon and Paris–Marseille trains are not affected. See the Bulletin Board →
Overview
Frecciarossa is operated in France by Trenitalia France, using Frecciarossa 1000 trains (top speed 300 km/h in service).
- Paris – Milan: 2 return trips per day, about 6h30–7h20. Stops: Lyon Part-Dieu, Chambéry, Saint-Jean-de-Maurienne, Modane, Oulx, Turin, Milano Centrale (plus Bardonecchia in winter).
- Paris – Lyon: up to 14 return trips on weekdays, about 2 hours. Serves Lyon Part-Dieu, Lyon Perrache and Lyon Saint-Exupéry TGV (airport).
- Paris – Marseille: 4 return trips per day, about 3h30, calling at Lyon Saint-Exupéry, Avignon TGV and Aix-en-Provence TGV. Launched June 2025.
Good to know: Frecciarossa arrives at Milano Centrale, while TGV INOUI uses Milano Porta Garibaldi.
Luggage, bikes & pets
- Luggage: 2 suitcases (max. 80 × 50 × 31 cm) plus 1 under-seat bag (max. 30 × 30 × 35 cm). A €40 penalty applies per extra or oversized item.
- Bikes: folded, or with a wheel removed, in a bag of max. 80 × 110 × 45 cm — counts as one suitcase. One special item (bike, skis, board, pushchair or scooter) per passenger.
- Pets:
- Under 5 kg: free, in a carrier (max. 80 × 50 × 31 cm), one per passenger.
- 5 kg and over: €30 reservation; dogs must be on a lead and muzzled.
- Pets are not allowed in Executive, quiet areas, Sala Meeting or the bar area. An EU pet passport, microchip and vaccinations are required. Assistance dogs travel free.
Boarding & check-in
- The platform is announced 20–30 minutes before departure. Boarding closes 2 minutes before departure.
- Paris Gare de Lyon: Frecciarossa leaves from Hall 1 or Hall 2 (not Hall 3).
- Milano Centrale: scan your ticket QR code at the platform gates.
- Carry a valid passport or national ID card on international journeys.
- Children under 15 on international journeys must travel with an adult.
Tickets & fares
- E-tickets with QR code — show on your phone or print. Seat reservation is included.
- Serenità is the main fare on France routes: free exchange until departure (fare difference payable); refund until departure with a 20% deduction. Promotional fares have stricter conditions.
- Children: 4–14 years receive 50% off; under 4s travel free on a lap.
Classes, food & drinks
- Standard — comfortable reclining seats.
- Business — more space and wider seats.
- Sala Meeting — private compartment for 2–5 people.
- Executive — leather seats and premium service.
- Free Wi-Fi in all classes and the FRECCIAPLAY entertainment portal.
- Food & drinks: a bar coach serves Italian snacks, coffee and hot dishes, with delivery to your seat also available.
Accessibility
- France stations: book Assist'enGare from 3 months up to 24 hours before departure on 3212 (or +33 9 72 72 00 92 from abroad), 8am–8pm. Be at the meeting point 30 minutes before departure.
- Italian stations: assistance is provided by RFI's Sala Blu service.

Refunds & claims
- Delay compensation: 25% for 30–59 minutes (voucher only), 25% for 60–119 minutes (cash or voucher), 50% for 2 hours or more.
