TGV INOUI France – Italy
SNCF's high-speed TGV INOUI service between Paris, the French Alps, Turin and Milan.
Engineering works: All direct France–Italy trains are suspended from 12 September to 9 October 2026 while the Chambéry–Modane line is closed. Services are expected to restart from 10 October 2026. There are no replacement buses for international trains — alternative routes run via Switzerland or Ventimiglia (Nice). See the Bulletin Board → for the latest.
Overview
TGV INOUI Italy is operated by SNCF Voyageurs and crosses the Alps via the Fréjus (Mont Cenis) line.
- Route: Paris Gare de Lyon – Mâcon-Loché TGV – Chambéry – Modane – Oulx – Turin – Milano Porta Garibaldi.
- Frequency: 3 return trips per day when the line is operating normally.
- Journey times: Paris–Turin about 5h30, Paris–Milan about 7h, Chambéry–Milan about 4h15.
- Domestic Italian legs: the same trains can be booked between Milan, Turin and Oulx.
- The line reopened on 1 April 2025 after a 19-month closure caused by the August 2023 landslide near Modane. Periodic weekend and summer closures for works are common — always check before travel.
Good to know: TGV INOUI arrives at Milano Porta Garibaldi, not Milano Centrale (Frecciarossa uses Centrale). Allow about 10 minutes by taxi or metro between the two.
Luggage, bikes & pets
- Luggage: take only what you can carry yourself in one go. All bags must be labelled with the passenger's name.
- Bikes: free, with no reservation, if folded or dismantled in a cover of max. 130 × 90 cm.
- Pets: pets under 6 kg travel free in a carrier. Heavier animals need a paid pet ticket. Assistance dogs travel free.
