Note: Looking for disruption updates? See the Bulletin Board →

Overview

TGV INOUI Spain is operated by SNCF Voyageurs and runs direct between Paris Gare de Lyon and Barcelona-Sants, with crews speaking French and Spanish.

  • Frequency: up to 3 direct trains per day in each direction (the number can differ by direction and season).
  • Journey time: Paris–Barcelona from about 6h30.
  • Main stops: Valence TGV, Nîmes, Montpellier, Sète, Agde, Béziers, Narbonne, Perpignan, Figueres-Vilafant and Girona.
  • Trains: double-deck TGV Duplex.
  • From Lyon, Marseille or Toulouse: SNCF has no direct train to Barcelona — journeys involve a change (usually Montpellier, Béziers or Narbonne). For direct Lyon–Barcelona and Marseille–Barcelona trains, see AVE international to/from France.

Good to know: Figueres-Vilafant is the high-speed station on the edge of Figueres, not the town-centre station.

Luggage, bikes & pets

  • Luggage: 2 pieces per person, up to 70 × 90 × 50 cm and 1 hand luggage (max 40 × 30 × 15 cm). Every bag must carry a label with the passenger's name. Skis, golf bags, and surfboards are accepted.
  • Bikes: travel free only if folded or dismantled in a cover (max. 130 × 90 cm). The cover counts as one item of luggage.
  • Electric scooters: not allowed on trains to/from Spain.
  • Pets: one animal per passenger. Small pets under 10 kg travel in a closed carrier (max. 45 × 30 × 25 cm) for a small fee; larger dogs must be on a lead and muzzled and need a paid pet ticket. Assistance dogs travel free.

Boarding & check-in

  • From Spain: arrive at least 30 minutes before departure. All bags go through an X-ray security check before the platform at Barcelona-Sants and other Spanish stations.
  • From France: arrive about 20 minutes early. There is no security screening. At Paris Gare de Lyon, check the departure boards in Halls 1 and 2.
  • Doors close 2 minutes before departure — after that, boarding is not possible.
  • Tickets are checked at the train door and/or on board.
  • ID: carry a valid passport or national ID card. Non-EU travellers should check Schengen entry/visa requirements.

Tickets & fares

  • E-tickets can be shown on your phone or printed. Seat reservation is included and compulsory.
  • Fare conditions (exchange/refund) depend on the fare chosen at booking — flexible fares can be changed up to departure; lower-priced fares have restrictions or fees closer to departure.
  • Children: 4–11 years pay a reduced fare; under 4 travel free on a parent's lap.

Classes, food & drinks

  • 2nd class and 1st class, both with power sockets at seats.
  • Free Wi-Fi and the TGV INOUI entertainment portal (films, magazines, games).
  • Bar coach on the upper deck serving French and Spanish snacks, hot dishes and drinks for purchase.

Accessibility

  • Wheelchair spaces are in 1st class; wheelchair users travel at the 2nd-class fare and a companion receives a reduced fare.
  • France stations: book free assistance with SNCF Assist'enGare / Accès Plus on 3212 (or +33 9 72 72 00 92 from abroad), 8am–8pm, at least 48 hours before travel.
  • Spain stations: assistance is provided by Adif's Atendo / Acerca service.

Refunds & claims

  • Delay compensation (international TGV INOUI): 25% of the ticket price for a delay of 30 minutes to 2 hours, 50% for 2 hours or more.
  • If you booked with Rail Europe, contact us at raileurope.com/en/contact/new with your RE- booking reference, passenger names, train number and details of the delay.
