Overview

Avanti West Coast is the National Rail franchise operating London–Birmingham–Manchester–Liverpool–Glasgow services on the West Coast Main Line.

Luggage

Passengers can bring one small item of hand luggage that can be kept on their lap, plus one larger item of luggage measuring up to 30 × 70 × 90 cm.

Luggage can be stored above or below your seat or in the designated luggage areas near the train doors. There is no specific weight limit, but passengers must be able to handle and store their own luggage safely.

Oversized or unsuitable luggage may not be accepted and could be subject to additional courier or transportation charges.

Pets

Avanti West Coast allows passengers to travel with up to two pets free of charge.

Pets must be kept in a suitable carrier or container, unless they are assistance or guide dogs. Pets should remain under control and must not occupy a seat.

Assistance and guide dogs are welcome on board and are not subject to the standard pet limit.

Food preference

Avanti West Coast offers food and drinks on board selected services. The availability of catering and menu options can vary depending on the train and journey.

Passengers with specific dietary requirements or food preferences should check the available menu options before travelling. Where available, dietary options may include vegetarian or other special-diet choices.

If a specific meal or dietary option is required, passengers are advised to check availability in advance, as not all food options may be available on every service.

Boarding & check-in

Arrive 20–30 minutes before departure. No formal check-in; ticket barriers may be present at some stations, with tickets also checked onboard when required.
