RegioJet

A private passenger rail operator connecting destinations across Central Europe.

Overview

RegioJet is a private passenger rail operator running domestic and international services across Central Europe, including routes in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Austria, Hungary and neighbouring countries.

Luggage

You can take personal luggage onboard RegioJet trains, provided you can carry and store it safely without obstructing other passengers, doors or aisles.

  • Hand baggage: up to approximately 15×25×35cm.
  • Standard luggage: up to approximately 30×60×80cm and 30kg.
  • Larger or additional luggage may be subject to a fee or space restrictions.
  • Keep valuables, documents and fragile belongings with you where possible.

Bicycles

Bicycle rules depend on the type of RegioJet train you are travelling on.

  • RJ category trains: standard bicycles cannot normally be transported. Small scooters may be carried if they fit safely in the overhead luggage rack or under your seat.
  • R category trains: bicycles are permitted on selected services, subject to available capacity.
  • A bicycle space must be reserved in advance when required. Bicycle capacity onboard is limited.
  • Bicycle rules can differ by route, so check the conditions for your specific train before travelling.

Travelling with pets

Pets may travel on many RegioJet services, but the rules depend on the train category, route and type of animal.

  • Small pets should normally travel in a suitable closed carrier and remain under the passenger's supervision throughout the journey.
  • Dogs travelling outside a carrier may be required to remain on a lead and wear a muzzle.
  • Guide and assistance dogs accompanying eligible passengers can travel onboard subject to the appropriate identification requirements.
  • On some international services, including certain Croatia routes, ordinary pets may not be accepted. Assistance and guide dogs are treated separately.

Always check the pet conditions for your specific route before travelling.

Tickets, classes & ticket reading

Tickets

RegioJet accepts digital tickets. Keep your Rail Europe ticket available on your phone or as a printed copy throughout your journey.

A valid RegioJet ticket may contain a reservation number, QR code, journey details, carriage and seat number, and the selected travel class. Check these details before travelling.

Fare classes

RegioJet's commercial RJ trains can offer several comfort classes:

  • Low Cost: basic 2nd-class travel with fewer onboard services.
  • Standard: 2nd-class travel with reserved seating and selected onboard services.
  • Relax: upgraded 2nd-class seating with additional comfort and services.
  • Business: RegioJet's premium 1st-class option with additional comfort and onboard benefits.

Classes and services vary by train and route. Always check the fare conditions shown during your Rail Europe booking.

Boarding & check-in

There is no airport-style station check-in for RegioJet trains. Arrive in enough time to locate your platform, carriage and seat before departure.

  • We recommend arriving around 15–20 minutes before departure.
  • Keep your valid ticket or reservation number available for inspection.
  • Seat reservations are normally included on RegioJet commercial services.
  • Check the carriage and seat number shown on your ticket before boarding.

Food & drinks on board

Food and drink services vary depending on the RegioJet train, route and travel class.

  • Selected RegioJet services offer snacks, meals and drinks onboard.
  • Complimentary refreshments or selected onboard services may be included depending on your travel class.
  • Additional food and drinks may be available to purchase onboard on applicable services.
  • Availability and the range of catering can vary by train and route.

Check the services available for your specific train and travel class before travelling.

Refunds & claims

Refund eligibility depends on the fare conditions of your Rail Europe booking. Check Your trips → After-sales Conditions before cancelling.

  • Eligible refunds can usually be requested through your Rail Europe account and are returned to the original payment method.
  • Non-refundable tickets cannot normally be cancelled, although exceptional claims may be submitted to the operator and are not guaranteed.
  • For delays or cancellations, keep your ticket, disruption evidence, and relevant receipts.
  • Delay compensation is subject to the operator's approval and applicable passenger rights.
