Overview
The Glacier Express is Switzerland's famous scenic panoramic train running from Zermatt–Brig–Andermatt–Disentis–Chur–St. Moritz.
Luggage
Larger suitcases go on designated racks at the end of each carriage; hand luggage stores under or between seats. Given limited space, bring at most one additional piece alongside your hand luggage. Not permitted onboard: ski equipment, bulky items, bicycles, and electric scooters.
Pets
Dogs and other pets can travel on the Glacier Express, subject to the applicable Swiss railway conditions and the space available onboard.
- Small dogs and other small animals may travel in a suitable transport container that can be safely stored.
- Larger dogs must remain under control and be kept on the floor during the journey.
- Pets must not occupy a passenger seat.
- An additional ticket or fare may be required for larger dogs or pets that are not transported in a suitable carrier.
- Guide and assistance dogs are subject to specific conditions and may be carried under the applicable assistance-dog rules.
Pet rules and fares can depend on the type and size of the animal, the journey, and the connecting railway services. Customers travelling with a pet should check the applicable conditions before departure.
Seat reservations & boarding
Seat reservation is required for every customer — your booking always includes one, and you cannot board without it. Reservations open up to 93 days ahead, with individual seats assigned at the time of online booking. Arrive 20–30 minutes before departure; there's no formal check-in beyond the reservation itself. A separate luggage transport service is available for larger bags that won't fit onboard.
