Can I Change My Seats?

If you've already booked your train journey and would like to sit somewhere else, the options available depend on the rail carrier you're travelling with.

Some operators allow passengers to change seats online after booking, while others only permit seat changes through a ticket exchange process or onboard, subject to availability.

Rail Carriers That Allow Online Seat Changes

Renfe

Renfe does not generally offer a dedicated seat-change feature after booking. If a passenger wishes to obtain a different seat, this may be possible by modifying or exchanging the ticket, subject to the fare conditions and availability.

To request a different seat:

  • Modify or exchange the tickets, where permitted by the fare conditions.
  • Select the same train service during the exchange process.

Trenitalia

  2. Enter the booking reference and passenger surname.
  3. Select Change Seats.
  4. Choose a preferred available seat from the seat map.
  5. Confirm the new seat selection.

Rail Carriers Requiring Onboard Assistance

For many European rail operators, seats are automatically assigned and cannot be changed online after booking.

If you would like to move to another seat, you can:
