AMSTERDAM SCHIPHOL

The airport in brief

NS (Nederlandse Spoorwegen – Dutch Railways) and NS Hispeed operate intercity and high-speed train (HST) from the Schiphol Station to travel across the Netherlands and through Europe with Thalys for France or ICE International for Germany, CityNightLine and Eurostar.

The NS train station is located directly below the terminal building. Take the escalator or lift downstairs and board the train. The train gets you for instance to Amsterdam Central Station in 14-17 minutes.

How to get to the city centre

  • Public buses Right in front of Schiphol Plaza you’ll find the airport’s bus stops.
  • Taxi stands: Your taxi will always stop right outside the departure and arrival halls.
  • Car rental companies have their counters in Schiphol Plaza: Avis, Budget, Europcar, Hertz, National and Sixt.

Good to know

  • Rail Passes covering/including Netherlands allow unlimited travel on the Netherlands rail network, including NS which links the Schiphol airport to the city centre.
  • Travellers holding a 1st Cl Eurail pass (including the Netherlands) are welcome in the NS Lounges in Amsterdam Centraal, Rotterdam Centraal and Amsterdam Schiphol. Lounges are open from 8am to 8pm on Monday to Friday, 10am to 6pm on Saturdays, Sundays and Public holidays.

BERLIN BRANDENBURG AIRPORT

The airport in brief

Berlin Brandenburg Airport, located 16 km from Berlin, will become in the near future, the only airport of the city. Operating under the new name of Hauptstadt-Airport Berlin-Brandenburg International (BBI), it shall comprise of four terminals, of which Terminal 1 is going to be the largest and most important.

The Berlin-Schönefeld Flughafen Train Station, which is directly connected to Berlin Airport Terminal 1, is the last stop of the S-Bahn line S9 and S45 and offers connections to any German or European city such as Potsdam, Rostock, Hamburg, Hannover, Dresden, Munich and Vienna operated by German Rail (Deutsche Bahn). Trains also depart from the airport station to the Central Station (Hauptbahnhof) and Station Zoo in Berlin every thirty minutes.

  • With your Rail Pass, you can easily travel across Germany or Europe within less than 3 hours departing from Berlin-Schönefeld Flughafen Train Station:

  • Brandenburg Berlin airport bus station is to be found on T1. Right in front of terminal building 1, on the Arrivals level, lie the bus stops A6-7. However, the Night Bus N36 leaves from bus stop A4, also located at T1’s ground level. Please note that from T5, the S-Bahn S9/45 trains and the X7 and X71 express buses handle transfers to the bus stops of T1/2.

How to get to the city centre

  • Trains Services depart every 15 minutes, and operate every day.
  • There are also numerous bus connections between the airport and the city centre. BVG buses depart from Terminal 1, while JetExpressBus connects to Rudow Metro Station.
  • Car rental counters If you opt for a car rental, you will find plenty of car hire companies operating at terminal 1/2 (serving also passengers landing at Terminal 2). T1 car rental providers are assembled on the basement level (E0) of terminal building 1.
  • Taxis stands Brandenburg Berlin airport taxi stand lies in front of terminal 1, on level E0 (if you are flying from BER airport terminal 1, the taxi rank is to be found on the first level).

Good to know

  • Remind to your clients to validate their Pass before boarding the train.
  • Rail Passes are valid on the S-Bahn and on DB trains (including the Airport Express), but not on the U-Bahn and the buses.
  • The German Rail Pass is valid to Salzburg (Austria) and Basel Bad (Switzerland), and offers free or discounted travel on certain Europabuses and steamers.

BIRMINGHAM INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT AIRPORT

Birmingham International airport has two terminals and more than 9 million passengers a year. You’ll find all the assistance you need here to make your journey easier and enjoyable.

  • National Express (National Rail company) operates direct trains (Intercity, regional and local rail services) across England from BHI railway station to major cities like Nottingham, Stafford, Worcester, Oxford, London or Chester. Trains stop at the railway station next to the Airport passenger terminals, which are linked by the automatic SkyRail service.

  • Terminals 1 and 2 are adjacent and are interconnected by the covered Millennium Link walkway with the BHI railway station.
  • The two terminals are within easy walking distance of each other.

How to get to the city centre

  • National Express operates several long distance coach services connecting a number of major cities to Birmingham Airport.
  • Local buses stop outside the airport terminals and provide connections to the city centre and surrounding districts.
  • The official Black taxi supplier to Birmingham Airport, transporting passengers to any destination. Just pick up one of the Black taxis from outside the main terminal and one of their drivers will happily take you to your required destination; be it a local hotel or anywhere else in the country.

Good to know

  • About every 2 minutes, the free Air-Rail shuttle service links the airport directly to the nearby BHI railway station in about two minutes.

BRUSSELS AIRPORT (ZAVENTEM)

The airport in brief

  • Compared to most airports around the world, Brussels Airport is one of the most accessible and closely located airports to a main city centre. Brussels is 12 kilometres from Brussels Airport the fastest travelling time is an 18 minute drive from the airport to the city. Travel methods include train, several types of bus, taxi and car.

    You will find the train station directly under the Departure and Arrival Halls of the airport (level -1). There are direct train services to the East, South and West of Belgium:

Train to Leuven and Landen run twice an hour. If you change trains you can easily get to the provinces of Limburg (via Hasselt) and Liège (via Luik-Guillemins)

How to get to Brussels city centre

  • The airport train station is located below the terminal (basement level-1). A total of 8 trains per hour run to and from Brussels on weekdays. Of those, 2 trains take you to the European district (Schumann station). At 5.24 am, the first train arrives at Brussels Airport and that rhythm continues until about midnight. In the weekend there are 5 trains per hour to Brussels until about 23.00 hours Sunday evening. After that the trains run less frequently.
  • Taxis with a taximeter are permanently available in front of the arrivals hall. Licensed taxis can be recognized by the blue and yellow emblem. Travellers are advised to avoid unlicensed taxis! Reservations in advance are not necessary.
  • Most hotels in the vicinity of the airport provide free shuttle buses. Hotel shuttle services arrive and depart from level 0, one level below the Arrivals Hall. Please contact your hotel for further details on the shuttle bus schedule.
  • The bus station is located on level 0 - one floor down from the arrivals hall - and can be easily reached by using the escalators or elevators. Centrally located on the bus station there are three platforms each with its specific use.
De Lijn The Ringtrambus (line 820) also goes via BruCargo.
MIVB/STI
The Airport Line is an 30-minute express service between Brussels Airport and the European quarter, at a stone’s throw from the uptown shops. From Monday to Friday 8 pm the Airport Line carries the number 12 and serves the major stops. On weekdays after 8 pm, on Saturday, Sunday and holidays the Airport Line carries the number 21 and serves all stops. All MIVB/STIB buses depart from platform C. Contactless with your bank card on the bus itself : 7 € A paper ticket at the GO vending machines : 7,50 €. You will find one on our escalators at bus level and on Platform C with your MOBIB card : 7 €.
Airport Express There are two bus companies that operate ‘airport express’ buses to and from Antwerp and between three cities in the Netherlands Breda, Rotterdam and Utrecht and Brussels Airport. It operates between Antwerp and Brussels Airport there are buses every hour and price is €10 one way – travelling time is 45 minutes. It operates between the three cities in the Netherlands and Brussels Airport – travel times vary and prices start at €25 one-way and only €37.50 return. http://www.airportexpress.be/
  • In the arrivals hall you will find the desks of several car rental companies: Avis, Europcar, Hertz, Sixt.

FRANKFURT AIRPORT

The Frankfurt Airport is the third busiest airport in Europe; it’s also the largest airport train station in Germany, ideal as a starting point for your German vacation if you travel by rail.

  • Frankfurt Airport Train Station offers connections to any German or European city with German Rail (Deutsche Bahn). The Train Station has two main terminals connected by corridors:
    -the Regional Train Station (next to Terminal 1), from which S-Bahn commuter trains lines (S8 and S9) depart for central Frankfurt and the central station.
    -the Square long-distance train station with several high-speed ICE trains departing to the majors cities like Cologne, Stuttgart, Hanau…

Frankfurt Airport Train Station is located next to Terminal 1. Corridors connect the Airport to the Regional Train Station (platforms 1-3) or The Square long-distance train station (platforms 4-7). The connection between terminals 1 and 2 is provided by Skyline, an automatic train.

  • To/from Frankfurt Airport Train Station Terminal 1: access by walk from corridors
  • You can reach Terminal 2 in less than 30 minutes by shuttle bus or SkyLine. Follow the connecting corridor to Terminal 1 within walking distance, then either use the shuttle bus from the bus station in front of Terminal 1 (Level 1), Area B, or board the SkyLine in Terminal 1, Area B, which will take you to Terminal 2 (journey time approx. 25 minutes).

How to get to the city centre

  • Frankfurt Airport Train Station is directly connected to Central Frankfurt and the Hauptbahnhof (central station), reachable within 10 to 12 minutes by S-Bahn commuter trains (S8 and S9 lines), located platforms 1-3 beneath Terminal 1.
  • There are many bus lines, and the most important are bus line 61 to Südbahnhof in Frankfurt; line 900 to the station Oberhausen and bus 73 to Kelsterbach. Only bus lines 61, 68, 73 and 975 stop at Terminal 2. You can reach Terminal 1 with Skyline in two minutes.
  • The Taxi stands are located in front of the Arrival Hall in both terminals. To reach Frankfurt it approximately takes 20 minutes (non rush-hours).
  • Car rental counters are located in both terminals.

Good to know

  • Rail Passes make you benefit from bonuses during your stay in each country you choose to travel in. Among those, S-Bahn transportation is free with a previously validated German Rail Pass or any Eurail pass including/covering Germany.

GARDERMOEN OSLO LUFTHAVN AIRPORT

How to get to the City Centre

  • The airport is connected to the city center by FlyToGet, an high-speed airport express train which operates from/to Oslo Central Station every 10 minutes (travel time: 19 minutes on average).
  • Airport Express Bus. The special SAS Airport Bus goes from the airport to the Central Station in Oslo and further to the “Radisson Scandinavia Hotel” every 20 minutes. Travel time is approximately 40 minutes.
  • The Oslo Airport Express Coach serves the airport, from Oslo, Fredrikstad, Ski and Gjovik. In addition, most express buses from other parts of Norway stop at the airport.
  • Taxi stands are located outside the Arrivals Hall

Good to know

  • All NSB Regional Trains that run between Skien, Oslo, Lillehammer and Trondheim stop at Oslo Airport and are free with a previously validated Eurail pass including/covering Norway.

LONDON GATWICK

London Gatwick Airport has two terminals and offers hundreds of destinations worldwide. From there, you’ll find all the assistance you need to make your journey easier and enjoyable.

How to get to the city centre

  • The Gatwick Express train runs every 15 minutes to London Victoria Station (travel time: 30 minutes).
  • National Express operates a service between London Victoria Coach Station and Gatwick every hour (travel time: around 1 hour 45 minutes).
  • Coach service operating daily from the coach stations at both terminals. The main coach station is located on the ground floor of the South Terminal. Buses depart from Gatwick to London Victoria Station every hour (travel time: about 90 minutes).
  • Taxi stands and car rental are obviously available in the Gatwick Airport for reaching London or any other nearby town. The journey time to central London is approximately 60-70 minutes from Gatwick Airport.

Good to know

  • The train station can be found at the South Terminal, just a five minutes walk from both departures and arrivals. It is easily accessible from the North Terminal too with our free shuttle service taking just two minutes.

LONDON HEATHROW AIRPORT

London Heathrow Airport is the fifth airport in the world in terms of passenger traffic. You’ll find all the assistance you need to make your journey easier and enjoyable.

  • Transfer between Terminals 1, 3, 4 and 5 is free of charge with the Heathrow Express (travel time from 8 to 12 minutes).
  • For Terminal 4, there’s a free shuttle train from Heathrow Central.

How to get to the city centre

  • Trains leaving London Paddington travel directly into Heathrow Central, with a journey time of just 15 minutes. Passengers travelling from Terminal 2 and Terminal 3 will leave the Heathrow Express at Heathrow Central, while those flying from Terminal 5 should stay on the service an extra six minutes into Terminal 5 station. For Terminal 4, simply leave the Heathrow Express at Heathrow Central and hop onto the Elizabeth Line train to the terminal.
  • Car rental counters are located in each Terminal of the airport. Hail a black cab from outside the terminal or pre-book a mini-cab in advance. Travel times vary depending on your destination and the time of day you’re travelling, but you’ll need to allow at least an hour to get from Heathrow to central London by car.

  • London Underground’s Piccadilly Line provides the most economical rail route between Heathrow Airport and the capital.
  • London Airport Link services Heathrow Express is free with a previously validated BritRail Pass.

LONDON STANSTED AIRPORT

  • Stansted Airport rail station is located directly below the main terminal (accessible by walk) and is connected to London Liverpool Street by The Stansted Express.

How to get to the city centre

  • The Stansted Express, the fastest train, runs between the Stansted airport and London Liverpool Street. Trains depart every 15 minutes. The journey time is 45 minutes to Liverpool Street and 35 minutes to Tottenham Hale.
  • The Stansted Bus run by National Express coach offers a high frequency shuttle service operating to London Victoria. Stansted Airport’s bus and coach station is opposite the main terminal entrance.
  • Taxi stands and car rental are obviously available in the Stansted Airport for reaching London or any other nearby town.

  • Whatever your train travel is, a rail pass or a point-to-point ticket, don’t make your money travel with you: pre-order your commission-free currency among 50 available and pick it up at the airport!

MUNICH FLUGHAFEN INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

Munich Flughafen International Airport is located 28 km northeast from Munich. It comprises of two terminals interconnected by Munich Airport Center (MAC). Whether you’re arriving, connecting or departing, you’ll find all the assistance you need here to make your journey easier and pleasant.

  • The Munich Flughafen Train Station, located at the airport, comprises of two S-Bahn lines (S1 and S8) departing every 10 minutes to the city center and the Munich Main Station (travel time: 40-45 minutes).
  • This station also provides service to any German or European city such as Berlin, Cologne, Salzburg, Frankfurt, Stuttgart, Vienna, Zurich and Milan with several InterCity and high-speed ICE trains by German Rail (Deutsche Bahn).

  • Munich Flughafen Train Station is located at the Munich Airport Centre (MAC), which is between Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 (there is a short walk distance between the two terminals).

How to get to the city centre

  • The S-Bahn (S1 and S8 lines) commuter trains depart from the airport to downtown Munich every 10 minutes. The major downtown stops include Munich Main Station (Hauptbahnhof), Marienplatz, Laim and Ostbahnhof. The journey takes about 40-45 minutes.
  • There are buses and coach services that serve Munich and the surrounding areas. Lufthansa buses connect the airport with Munich’s main railroad station every 20 minutes during the day.
  • Taxis: You can expect a taxi ride from Munich airport into the city center to cost about 50-60 euros, depending on where going.
  • To reach the rental cars area, follow the "Mietwagen" signs.

  • S-Bahn transportation is free with a previously validated German Rail Pass or any Eurail pass including/covering Germany.
  • The airport offers several free services like newspapers and hot beverages, shower facilities in the public area to freshen up after a hard day, unique exhibitions in several public areas, airport TV in all non-public waiting areas, free child care at Kinderland in the Munich Airport Center (for children ages three to ten), seasonal live performances and concerts in the Airbräu restaurant and in the Munich Airport Center.

PARIS ROISSY/CDG

The airport in brief


Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (Roissy) is located 23 km north of Paris and eases your journey in France and beyond with its own transport hub which provides fast and frequent train services.

Charles de Gaulle TGV station is underneath Terminal 2 (between terminals 2C/2E and 2D/2F).
If you arrive at Terminal 1 or 3, you cannot access by walk and need to take CDGVAL shuttle:

  • To/from Terminal 2: access via walkways or shuttle bus N1.
  • To/from Terminal 3: access by walk + CDGVAL.

How to get to the city centre


With or without a Rail Pass, enjoy Paris for a few moments! Charles de Gaulle airport provides you many ways for reaching the French capital.

  • RER B: free with all previously validated Rail Passes covering France, this local train reaches Gare du Nord in only 30 minutes to catch the Eurostar train (without stops), 40 minutes to the centre of Paris and 8 mn to the Parc des Expositions, the famous exhibition centre. From the airport, you have to take the CDGVAL for reaching the train station
  • Air France Coaches provide services every 20 minutes to Paris-Porte Maillot, Arc de Triomphe (Place de l’Etoile) ; Paris-Gare de Lyon, Gare Montparnasse and Orly airport
  • Roissy Bus reaches Paris-Opera Garnier every 15 minutes
  • Val d’Europe Airports (VEA) shuttle for reaching Disneyland® Resort Paris in 45 to 60 minutes
  • Taxis and car rental are obviously available in CDG airport for reaching Paris or any other town nearby the airport.

Good to know

  • France Rail Pass & France Rail Pass Premiuem are valid on the RER B train from Paris Charles-de-Gaulle to Paris Nord railway station (in this direction only).

PISA AIRPORT GALILEO GALILEI

The airport in brief


Pisa airport Galileo Galilei is the only Italian airport with a rail connection. Direct railway lines connect every day Pisa Airport to Pisa Central Station and to Florence. The railway terminal is located just outside the departures hall. From there, you’ll find all the assistance you need to make your journey easier and enjoyable.

  • TRENITALIA operate Italia high-speed trains to/from Pisa Central Station with major cities in Italy such as Rome, Milan, Florence, Venice, and Torino. It also provides regular lines to European cities.

How to get to the city centre

  • The Leonardo Express is located next to the main terminal of the Fiumicino Airport and runs every 30 minutes to Rome Termini central station.
  • The FMI Metropolitan Train (also called FR1 metropolitan) service connects Fiumicino Airport to the metro stations of Roma Trastevere, Roma Ostiense, Roma Tuscolana and Roma Tiburtina, with several stops on the route and going as far as "Fara Sabina/Orte".
  • The SitBusShuttle service directly connects Fiumicino Airport to Rome Termini central station every 20 minutes (about 22 a day).
  • COTRAL buses connect Rome to the airport from Rome Tiburtina station with a stop at Termini central station, Cornelia station – metro line A and Eur-Magliana station – metro line B.
  • Taxis stands and car rental are obviously available in Fiumicino Airport from Terminals 1, 2, 3 and 5. Taxi costs about 40 euros, baggage included, for the Rome city centre.

Good to know

  • Free transfer is available on the Leonardo Express between Fiumicino Airport and Roma Termini train station for 1st class pass holders only. This transfer requires use of one day of travel on the pass.

STOCKHOLM ARLANDA AIRPORT

Stockholm Arlanda Airport (ARN) comprises of four terminals (2, 3, 4 and 5) and it’s located around 42 km north from central Stockholm, close to both cities of Marsta and Sigtuna in the province of Uppland. The airport has its own train station called Arlanda Central Station.   • The SJ railway company operates about 70 direct long-distance trains to/from the underground Arlanda Central Station (Arlanda C).
  • It serves destinations in the Lake Mälaren Valley region around Stockholm and to Sweden’s Dalarna and Norrland regions to reach major cities such as Uppsala, Gävle, Sundsvall, Östersund, Åre, Borlänge, Falun, Leksand, Mora or Nyköping. An airport shuttle bus (Arlanda Express) operates between Stockholm Central Station and Stockholm Arlanda Airport.
  • With a Rail Pass, travellers can easily travel across Sweden or to other Nordic countries within less than 3 hours departing from Arlanda C:

  • Arlanda Central Station is located directly below the centre of SkyCity, the central area of the airport, between Terminals 4 and 5 of the Stockholm Arlanda Airport.
    -To/from Terminal 2 or 3: access by walk within few minutes or Shuttle bus.
    -To/from Terminal 4 or 5: access by walk within 4-6 minutes.

How to get to the city centre

  • Arlanda Express is the fastest and most environmentally friendly way of travelling between Stockholm Central Station and Stockholm City. No stops on the way, you can reach your destination in about 20 minutes. Arlanda Express has two stations at the airport: Arlanda South (Terminals 2, 3 and 4) and Arlanda Norra/North (Terminal 5). SkyCity can be reached from either station.
  • Upptåget commuter train runs between Upplands Väsby and Uppsala through Stockholm-Arlanda, with an onward connection to Tierp and Gävle.
  • Many long-distance and regional SJ trains stop at Arlanda Airport making it possible to travel directly from Arlanda to your final destination in the Mälardalen region as well as in the north of Sweden.
  • Bus stations are located outside Terminals 2, 4 and 5. Buses run to Stockholm City Terminal within less than 45 minutes and to many other destinations. Bus number 583 connects with the commuter train at Marsta station.
  • Taxi stands are located directly outside the terminals. Taxis registered as environmentally “clean" cars have a separate queue. At the airline terminals, these “ecotaxis” are always at the front of the taxis queue.
  • Car rental: Avis, Budget, Europcar, Hertz, and Sixt are all represented at the airport, with offices in the airport’s dedicated car rental centre.

Good to know

  • Arlanda Express is Free with a previously validated Eurail pass including/covering Sweden.
  • Before catching the train, advise travellers to validate their Rail Pass at the dedicated counter in the station.

ZÜRICH FLUGHAFEN AIRPORT

The airport in brief


Zürich Flughafen Airport is located about 12 km from downtown Zürich in the suburb of Kloten. An automated underground train links the airport with the Swiss capital.

  • Zürich Flughafen Airport has its own train station located underneath Terminal B with direct connections every hour or half an hour to most major cities and tourist destinations across Switzerland.
  • Swiss Federal Railways operate many trains to/from Zürich Flughafen railway station like the frequent S-Bahn Zürich services (lines S3, S16), direct InterRegio and InterCity services to Berne, Basel, Lucerne, Constance, Geneva, Lausanne. By changing trains at Zürich main station (Hauptbahnhof), which is directly linked to the airport, most other destinations in Switzerland or in Europe can be reached in a few hours.

Zürich Flughafen railway station is located underneath Terminal B of the airport, close to Terminal A. All sections of the passenger terminal are within walking distance.

How to get to the city centre

  • The airport is located 10 kilometres from the city centre. Trains serve the main station in Zurich during peak periods (travel time: 10 minutes), and numerous inter-city and regional trains provide connections to all the main towns and cities in Switzerland.
  • The Glattalbahn rail service provides new direct connections between the airport and the surrounding areas, plus the northern suburbs of Zurich city, including Irchel, Milchbuck, Zurich-Oerlikon and Glattpark.
  • There are also numerous bus connections between the airport, the city centre and various towns in Switzerland. There’s a large bus stop outside the upper level of the Airport Shopping Building (follow the signs).
  • Rental car Centre is on the top floor of the Airport Shopping Building.
  • The airport taxi rank is located in front of Arrivals 1 and 2.

Good to know

  • The Swiss card includes a round trip (2 transfers) between any Swiss airport or border station and any destination in Switzerland
  • You can also benefit from the FLYRAIL BAGGAGE service: from any airport around the world, your baggage travels directly to your railway station in Switzerland via Zurich Airport. This means your baggage is automatically forwarded to your destination station when you arrive at the airport. This way, you don’t lose any time waiting for your suitcase.
  • The Swiss Pass enables visitors to travel free of charge on the Swiss Travel System’s entire network for periods ranging from four days to one month. Just imagine – unrestricted travel from the airport railway station to right up into the mountains and back again!

WIEN

The airport in brief


Vienna Airport handled 23.6 million passengers, making it one of the busiest airports in the region. The airport has four terminal buildings named Terminal 1, 2 and 3 which are directly built against each other as well as the additional Terminal 1A located opposite Terminal 1. Terminals 1, 2 and 3 connect to the five concourses. The central arrivals hall for all terminal areas is located in Terminal 3. Fast and frequent transport to the Wien city centre and trains stations.

The rapid transit railroad (S-Bahn for short) offers a cost-effective way to commute between the city of Vienna and Vienna Airport.
With the ÖBB-Railjet you can reach Vienna Central Station, St. Pölten, Linz, Salzburg, Innsbruck, Bregenz and Graz directly. Klagenfurt, Brno, Prague, Györ and Budapest can be reached by changing trains at Vienna Central Station.
