Italian Regional Train Digital Tickets & QR Codes

Regional train tickets marked "NOT VALID TO TRAVEL" are automatically activated by Trenitalia at the scheduled departure time shown on the ticket. No manual check-in is required before travel.

Important Information

  • Your ticket will be automatically activated at the scheduled departure time.
  • No action is required before travel.
  • Once the ticket has been automatically activated, it cannot be exchanged or changed to a different date or time.
  • You may make changes to the travel date or departure time before the ticket is automatically activated, subject to the ticket conditions.
  • Regional Digital Tickets (BDR) are personal and non-transferable.

QR Code and Travel Requirements

You must have access to your QR code during your journey, as it may be requested at station gates and during onboard ticket inspections.

You must also present a valid photo ID when requested by Trenitalia staff.

How to Access Your QR Code

You can retrieve your QR code at any time after purchase by visiting the Trenitalia website and entering your registered email address together with your PNR/Ticket Code:

The same PNR/ticket code will retrieve all QR codes associated with your booking.


Date and Time Changes

  • You may make an unlimited number of date and time changes until 23:59 on the day before travel.
  • On the day of travel, you may make an unlimited number of departure time changes until the scheduled departure time shown on your ticket.
  • Once the ticket has been automatically activated, no further changes can be made.

Important

According to Trenitalia's Conditions of Carriage, the QR code must be available on a mobile device and presented upon request. If the QR code cannot be displayed during inspection, the passenger may be considered without a valid ticket.

The ticket remains valid until the scheduled arrival time at the destination shown on the ticket. In the event of a train delay, passengers may continue their journey and complete the trip using the same activated ticket.
