Submitting a claim to Renfe

If your train is delayed or cancelled, we can submit a claim on your behalf. 

Please click "More Help" on the bottom right of your screen to send us the details of your request. We'll need: 

  • Your Rail Europe reference number (it begins with "RE-")
  • Passenger name(s)
  • Travel date
  • Train number
  • Specific details about your departure and arrival stations, date and time of disruption and any costs you incurred.
Keep hold of any proof of your delay and/or receipts for expenses that you've incurred.

When will the refund be paid?

In the instance of train cancellation/delay, it can take longer if there is a high volume of claims, for instance during a national rail strike. For illness, bereavement, Renfe does not accept claims. You will need to claim these via your travel insurer.  

Once we have approval from Renfe, we'll refund your payment card via your Rail Europe account and send you an email confirming it.
