Car transport by train

Auto train car transport is possible in Europe; there are several long-distance trains that carry vehicles in special transporters (with no passengers on board), but the numbers are dwindling. We do not offer booking for these routes, and you need to contact the companies which do directly. The main companies are French Auto-Train, Austrian Motorail (ÖBB) and Optima Tours. The most comprehensive information on this subject can be seen in the Man in Seat 61's guide to Motorail trains. 

Note: Motorail is not to be confused with the Eurotunnel, where car passengers drive their cars onto a cross-channel train from UK to France and stay with their cars throughout. At the moment we do not book Eurotunnel either.
